Is this in the canyon, or A-bar?

Anyone been in the canyon recently? How is the ice looking? I have been commuting the canyon on a daily basis and it is looking really good right now in most locations all the way up to the Bllackhawk light. Most of the ice is gone, or manageable. Only the sun starved bends are holding the big ice. Of course, that could all change with the weather but for now it looks great! I am totally socked-in with work or I'd be hittin it hard now. I may get a day or two between now and the 27th... otherwise I'm committed solid to work projects until at least early March. I've got the itch cuz it's been way too long now. A few more good trips and I will have a 1/2 oz vial full from CC. She has been good to me. Hard to keep my eyes on the road driving that canyon. -------------------- /l ,[____], l---L-OlllllllO- ()_) ()_)--o-)_) BLACK SANDS MATTER! I was out on Saturday and the ice is starting to melt. I had to break some up to make room for the GC, and got a lesson in how sharp freshly broken ice can be. That was nothing compared to having my knee pop out of joint hauling the GC up the hill. Ouch! The water was definitely cold, but was tolerable with 2 sets of long arm gloves on (yellow atlas ones on Amazon).
I plan to do some cleanup tonight on finds from there as well as previous ones from A-bar. The 3 drop riffles below the punch plate looked fairly promising. Arrived: Typical site throughout the day (cars getting pulled over): GC Setup and running: Quick pan of the 3 drop riffles below the punch plate; looks encouraging that cube will hold some good stuff. Freezing water floats gold even with soap added BTW: -------------------- Lifetime Member

Damn good showing of micron!
Looks like that spot I was doing well at is still pretty socked-in with ice. Hope that your knee is ok! I have recurring knee and hip problems on occasion. Only two choices: get them fixed, or learn to live with it. For now I have been living with it. -------------------- /l ,[____], l---L-OlllllllO- ()_) ()_)--o-)_) BLACK SANDS MATTER! Only two choices: get them fixed, or learn to live with it. For now I have been living with it. I'm the same way for now. 12 years ago they told me it looked like my knee was 60 years old. I've already had two surgeries on it; the next one I was told is a replacement, so I don't even mess with getting it looked at anymore. Last doc said I'd tell them if and when, not the other way around. I figure I'll keep the brace on while at the creek, and use it 'til I can't stand it anymore. The rough part Saturday was I'd only carried up the GC, so had the battery, pans, shovels and clean out bucket still below. Zoe was on the other side still since I had her off leash, and didn't want to mess around with her running around with traffic. There was definitely that minute of "WTH do I do?" I can't hop across the creek with Zoe on one leg! Fortunately, messing around with bending and straightening it (ouch), I got it to pop back in with instant relief. From there I was able to gimp around enough to get everything up, and then gingerly carry Zoe across. That ice won't be around a whole lot longer, especially with rain coming. It'll be good to see you out there once work lightens up a bit for ya. -------------------- Lifetime Member

Work was slow today and the weather was great so Dave and I left work early and went to the creek. I needed to test my tub set-up for my gold wheel. It worked very well with some jet dry in there. I can use this set up for places where I need to bring my own water and can use it to better work the glacial clay like at Dave's claim and other deposits I have been testing. I don't need to search the creek for a good set up spot anymore. In most cases this should make my gold prospecting much more productive.
Results of the first bucket of gravel. Second Bucket Dave was working his turbopan. My 3rd bucket Daves final. 2 buckets + 2 pans My final. 3 buckets -------------------- |
