Hooo Wee!!! Homeownership is a bit of a chore! I'd rather be diggin but the new mistress calls. I've been working in the garage installing my new workbench (which turned out pretty well ;) ) and saw the small bench that the previous owners left behind. It was too small to really use as a work bench except maybe as a grinder area or a new house for my mini fridge...hmmm what to do...DING!!! Panning station!!!!!!!

Hello Ernie,
Looks like an ideal set-up --- I'll be round with the concentrates next year --- Take Care Ernie,
Kind Regards,
Michael Thornberry.

Hello Ernie; Why don't you start makeing them to sell? Or make up some plans to send to your friends.

Nice Ernie
How long did it take to make that? mellow.gif

Posted by: Evil Ernie Dec 3 2005, 11:23 AM

Thanks fer the kudos! This little project took me about 3 hours. If you guys really want plans, I can definitely draw some up on Visio and convert the file to a doc or a jpg. I would'nt charge anyone fer it, we miners gotta stick together.
Hey D&D! How bout a plans tab on the homepage? At least for the plans that are free.
Here's a side shot...

Posted by: ColoradoProspector Dec 4 2005, 03:45 PM

SWEET EE!

Great panning station. A plans area would be fun. The forum is set up for everyone to upload/download pics and plans....lets start a plans thread or two in this "equipment" forum.
We can even move these pics and posts there once it's started if ya want. :)
Whatcha think?
Any registered member should be able to start a new thread by the way so feel free and make yourselfs at home......... :D This is your prospecting room. laugh.gif :P

Have a great one everybody....projects like these are great cabin fever blockers.
But now EE has to get a new one for winter which starts in a few weeks.... laugh.gif
well guess he can do the can holder upgrade..... :P

Ernie,
Looks like a great set up to me. Don't forget to show us some of that Gold when you get done.
See Ya Greg

Once again thanks fer the thumbs up. Alex is coming out for Christmas and I got him two bags of Felix's. I'll have him pan that out, combine his fines & chunks with mine and do the potato button as described by Chris Gholson in the last GPAA mag. Instead of a oxy-ace torch I'll use MAPP gas. I've heard it works well. I'll post the pics here of the process.

Posted by: Evil Ernie Dec 5 2005, 08:25 AM

OK, here's the quick plans for the panning station. It may need to be resized. I also have the Visio doc that I originally drew it with. If ya want that, I can email it to ya.

Posted by: Mrs.CP Dec 5 2005, 09:39 AM

Very cool EE!
I resized your plans pic for you a bit.
If anyone wants a copy of the big pic, just ask and I will e-mail one to you.

Posted by: prospector_41 Dec 5 2005, 05:44 PM

Hi E.E. thank you for the plans. I will try to get mine done this spring.

After I clean my grage so I have a place to put it.

Burt (the prospector_41)

Posted by: Evil Ernie Dec 6 2005, 03:38 AM

Thanks for the resize! I guess it was a big large :P
If anyone builds one of these or has a pic of their own, post it so we can see how ya did!

Posted by: prospector_41 Dec 6 2005, 02:40 PM

Hi E.E. You for got to put the measurement on the plans. It is between the front and back legs.

Burt

Posted by: prospector_41 Dec 6 2005, 02:44 PM

Hi E.E. You for got to put the measurement on the plans. It is between the front and back legs also from the center brace to the top cross bar where the tub goes

Burt

Posted by: Evil Ernie Dec 6 2005, 07:40 PM

Aw crap, yer right...
That would be 16" between the front and back legs and 25 1/2" from side to side. sorry about that. I'll make the rev on it.

Hi Lucky!!!!!!!
How ya been? Thanks fer the nod on the station. We'll definitely get some shovel time in this summer!

Posted by: Coalbunny Dec 10 2005, 12:35 AM

Ernie, I had the CAD drawing is accurate. Got it DL'd and going to start on that station soon.

I would like to mention a few additions you missed-
No where to sit the beer....
No where to sit the pizza....
No where to put the 40mm ammo cans used to hold all the gold....
:D

Looks good ernie! Thanks for sharing the pics!

Well sir, I'm really glad you asked about accessorizing your panning station! It just so happens that there are a few things I've left out. I've aquired a small bin that I've screwed to the side and that holds my vials. As far as a cold beverage, a regular old $.99 unit from WallyWorld did the trick, fits right over the 2x4 side piece.

Posted by: Coalbunny Dec 11 2005, 08:33 AM

Let em correct my crappie typen- I HOPE the CAD drawing is accurate (with the measurement corrections noted).
Sorry about that.
Carl

Posted by: Evil Ernie Dec 13 2005, 08:18 PM

Carl,
The measurements should be accurate in contrast with amount of beverage consumed laugh.gif ! When you place the 1x2's in for the tub frame, make sure that you have the tub in place against the front 1x2, then slide the rear 1x2 into place and lock'er down. This leave the gap for your handles. I may put additional bracing under the tub just for better stability. Good luck!!!

Posted by: luckynugget Dec 16 2005, 01:37 PM

laugh.gif B) Yep we sure will EE get in some prime shovle time. So how is your winter project coming didn't you get some mining equipment up this yr? B) Yea I got a Highbanker now. blink.gif Can't wait to get it out in the spring. TC Buddy and I'll see you in the posts. B)

Posted by: Evil Ernie Dec 16 2005, 03:35 PM

You got a highbanker?!?!? Oh man, I want one!!! LOL!!! Well, we'll definitely have to put that puppy to work. I had a small dredge planned but then Gavin showed up and kinda put the kibosh on that idea for a while. I'm still plannin on building my own tho.

Posted by: Evil Ernie Dec 26 2005, 10:48 PM

Posted by: Evil Ernie Dec 27 2005, 06:17 PM

Ya know, I haven't touched a pan in months. I have two buckets of cons to pan out and haven't had the time to do it. Alex is busy being 15 and well the Moose is into everything lately. Since this weekend is supposed be nasty (AGAIN!), I'll throw some liquid sunshine in the tub and see what I get! Glad to be back!!!!
