Thank you Denise! You also do some very amazing work and I especially appreciate compliments from artists.
This one just got back from heat-treat and I'm making bolsters for it from 1/4" thick #416 stainless steel. Thanks!
Well, it took forever and a day but I made two perfectly flat and matching bolsters for the next knife. These will go on the knife with stabilized Pine Cone pictured earlier. Thank you! They are now attached to a work in progress.
I have created a brand and logo for my knives & sheaths - "4bar4 USA". It comes from an historic stage route behind my place which bears that name. It is now "County Road 5" but still has the 4bar4 Rd signs and that's what most of the locals still refer to it as. The road is a great piece of county history and there are still historic log structures preserved along it. There was even a govt Nazi Detainment Camp there at one time. Strange but true! Anyway... I learned a lot about making a logo... I learned that it is expensive to have it done for you! Anywhere from $200 - $400 for a shop to take your idea from concept to a workable art format. They can do it relatively fast using various logo software. I could not afford the money nor time to master that software, even for the simple logo concept I had in mind. So... I did it the old fashioned way and saved a ton of money. Basically my ancient drafting skills combined with a little photography and cut & paste. And when I say "cut & paste", I mean scissors and Elmer's glue! It worked out well. For $0 I created a workable art format logo that I can now submit to a sign shop, decal maker, stencil maker, or stamp maker. Which is what I did! I submitted the artwork in jpeg format to a guy on ETSY who makes leather stamps. For a total cost of $54 he was able to render my artwork into a leather stamp and it may be here today. Next will be a stencil so that I can etch my logo into the steel. Those are also about $50 to have made and the electro etching machine and chemicals I'll need are $100-$200 so I'll hold off on that until next year probably. But, nice to have the logo done! My sheaths will bear a new brand. I will probably sell a few knives a year as things stand right now. They take a long time to make. I may have a few for sale soon and will post them up for sale. This is the artwork which I created and submitted. John the stampmaker enlarged the "USA" letters for me prior to the final proof, which I appreciated. 4bar4 Logo Completion 1600 by GhostCreekMine, on Flickr This is the proof he sent me for approval and what my stamp should look like. I'm kinda excited to see it. He machines these out of Brass using a CNC. I ordered it to be 7/8" in length which is good for sheath stamping. 4bar4 final stamp proof by GhostCreekMine, on Flickr -------------------- /l ,[____], l---L-OlllllllO- ()_) ()_)--o-)_) BLACK SANDS MATTER! I'd be interested in a larger size skinning style, similar to an sog field pup but bigger. It's a good all around size I think. Small enough to carry everyday but big enough to be useful.
