Mineral specimen lot #1

(Seasonal Drawing 9/22/16 treasure picked by Renee in Missouri )

A beautifully white and sparkly clean microcline/albite in combination with smokey quartz crystals all around (shown center right in picture) is the show piece of this lot. Size of the show piece is a miniature at just under 2.5" and is a micromount delight!
Also included for this lot, another smokey quartz crystal that at first glance appears to be broken which it was.....but mother nature has tried to fix the broken end over time and the broken end now has been "mended" naturally with many small terminations. The other pieces are, geothite (micromount), a nice pale amazonite crystal with good form, a pseudomorph hematite after siderite (awesome sheen and form), and another light tan colored microcline/albite formation with awesome shape and sheen too!

Ok this one will appeal to the faceters out there we think.

Chosen for fall 11' seasonal drawing 1st place prize - Doug in Colorado 1/02/12

Rough Smokey Quartz crysttals for faceting - Approximately 124 grams +
From the world famous Dreamtime Mine in Colorado. All mined by myself and Mrs.CP and hand picked by us for clarity.
A nice range of colors from light to darks. We estimate that a 50% loss or so will be encountered through finishing.
So hopefully you will end up with somewhere around 60 grams or 300 cts of clean workable material. We are not faceters ourselves but we have screened these to be some without a "milky" center. We can see very nice transparency in some or most of each piece. Piece sizes range from largest at right center 1.75" x .75" down to .5" for smallest length.

Todays addition to the stash compartment is a really nice set of 3 thundereggs. All 3 have been cut and polished by Denise and myself.
Two double thundereggs are from the Priday ranch in Oregon and the center one is from the Baker pit New Mexico. Both Oregon eggs are very nice blues with the lower double having great plumes inside. The center NM egg didn't really form a large "pocket" of agate in this piece but rather spread through out the entire egg structure. There is a small bright orange/red pocket and it polished out so nicely with vivid red, whites, and blues. smileyflag.gif Picture is full size, click on the image for a larger view with more details on all of them. This set of 3 thundereggs will make a nice addition to your collection. happy088.gif
Sizes are approximately (from top to bottom) 3 inches by 2 inches, 2.75 inches by 2 inches, and 3 inches by 2.25 inches.

This sweet treasure is a brass Colorado Prospector belt buckle. It was originally made for the Colorado Prospector newspaper here in Colorado back in the 70's. signs021.gif

This treasure choice is a polished batch of Colorado thundereggs.....some more shell than egg, chores017.gif but the "Fawn's head" center piece thunderegg is a dandy t-egg half!
Great agatization in all of them and all 5 are flat polished to a high sheen and ready for your collection. Both pair sets in the pic will stand on their own for shelf diplaying too. "Fawn's head" center piece egg half is approx. 3.5 inches wide x 2.5 inches tall.
