Thanks, Denise! I stopped having it cut after the heart attack, 'cuz I just don't care what people think about it any more. It would have been great to have you guys there, too. It was great meeting you, Henry, and I figured out what the problem was with the backflow on the trommel - TOO MUCH water, I backed down both the hopper and the tube sprayers, cleared the exit chute after every 3 - 4 shovels, and it worked just fine. Still learning, and I'm going to add some more spray holes on the tube bar so that there is some water on the exit chute, that may help a bit. Your help in the beginning helped work out some of the issues I had with the sluice - I think it is dialed in now, the cons look terrific, lots of native lead, lead shot, sinkers, etc. in the 2 pans I have sped through. I am going to class it to -12 and run it through the Gold Cube to really concentrate it. I will post pic's later this week. Woody, Pat, and Chris, it was a blast, and I really enjoyed the outing, and appreciate the help in packing up. Great Teamwork!

Later!

Great attitude! Wasn't it Kurt Cobain that said " I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not"...... smiley-clapping.gif and I agree!!
We're getting there! Hopefully we can make the next one. I would love to have some time with that trommel you have there! Sweet little unit and looks like a blast to run!

Had a lot of fun. Thought I found the perfect spot for finding gold. A flake just laying there on top of the dirt but it turned out to be just gold paint. What a let down.

It was a great day anyway. Results of the first pan through are not good, though - about a grain. However, there are at least 3 grams (or more) of native lead and some lead shot. If there was gold there, I would have caught it. I am going to cube it, then blue bowl, and post pics of the final tally of both the gold and lead. At least I know that if I was catching the lead, I would have caught the gold.

Thinking the road paint was gold is not an uncommon thing to happen in that area, especially being so close to the road. Stuff is even buried in the dirt down by the creek. slaphead.gif Don't let it get you down, happens to everyone at some point. happy088.gif Even when you find a nugget, everyone will want to test it or bite it. smiley-shocked003.gif Don't let them!! laugh.gif

Yeppers - it fooled me too, and I had run into it before! I guess it will happen again, sometime.... but now I know to be suspicious - gold on the surface, riiiiight! Dang, but I was hopeful, I wanted a big result to share.... Henry, as soon as I finish it, I'll send you the vial, I'm just slow about finishing. Way too many things to get done around here!

OK, no pics yet, but I did pull out some of the lead that I caught, both native and lead shot... totaled 3.7 grams. Man, if I had caught this much gold..... would have paid for a 1/4 tank of fuel! smiley-laughing021.gif Phone is dead today - forgot to put it in airplane mode - so no pics of the lead, not that you would want to see it other than to see what picker size flakes of native lead look like. Kind of like grey/white to blue/grey flakes of rock. Acts just like gold when you tap on the pan, too. It's a real pain in the patoot.
