New to hobby, Getting some advice Options

Hi all.

I'm new to the hobby. I've been living in Greeley for a little over a year now. I have a 7 yr old who is fascinated with minerals and rocks etc. I always found them interesting as well. I'm not sure where to start with locations that are open to the public. I looked at the BLM website and didn't find much useful information. I was looking into the rainbow lode area since our 7 yr old's favorite color is purple. Could anyone give me a heads up as to public locations in that area? Or direct me in the right area to find the info myself? Thanks!
