Posted by: fanatic Nov 5 2007, 05:47 AM

I'm going to try to get to the auction tonight myself. Looks like lots of nice stuff! I'm jusy getting interested in rocks and rock tumbling.

Two possible suggestions: Selling lots of rocks to tumble is one. Second have you considered making any belly ring jewelry? maybe with matching earrings?

Posted by: Mrs.CP Nov 5 2007, 11:59 AM

Thanks Faaus and Fanatic! Will be good to see you both tonight.

Give us some time to get some together, and I bet we could come up with several batches of petrified wood, and agates for tumblers for future auctions.
wink.gif

Posted by: faaus Nov 5 2007, 03:45 PM

Hey Fanatic, ol Buddy,

You know you're gonna have to trim your beard for the earrings to show, and shaving that belly button area will be a delicate operation, so don't sneeze.

I hope you can make it. I've been reading about your tumbler activity. Isn't it amazing how our interests just keep blossoming? It really makes life worth living.

All the Best,
faaus

Very cool indeed.I see theres a bit of a stir about the auctions .Its really great to see the interest in such a good cause. The CP's really work hard to keep up with everything on the site. And do a great job I must add.
Another big plus about it all is if you end up with any of thier handiwork you can count on it being top notch.
GOOD LUCK D. AND D. Jim

I glanced around and found a couple of tests of the Falcon Pinpointer. Here's what a site, specializing in Meteorite-detecting had to report:

Falcon MD-10 Pinpointer: Depth: 3/4". The Falcon MD-10 is a prospecting pinpointer, so it is sensitive to both minerals and metals. It has only two dials, sensitivity and ground balance, these were set for maximum response to the test targets. It read clearly and easily on all of the meteorites. This is a fine pinpointing detector for any purpose and it has proven to read meteorites of nearly all types well. Out of production for a time, I believe it is being offered once again, though it's a bit spendy for a pinpointer. One could travel very light using only this machine, relying on eye for discovery followed by air tests of a suspect rock.

My Buddy, Jim Simons, of NY prospecting renown, bought a Falcon and he seemed very pleased with it.

I guess all of us have experienced the frustration of trying to locate a target, once the surrounding soil has been disturbed.

Its going to be fun this week also!

Here is one of the items thats going on the Auction block Monday...

WOAH!!

That sure stirs the old corpuscles!

I'll be there for this one! You bidders had better come strong and come early!

Just THINK how this will chase away the off-season fever!

Way to go CP's!

Thanks,

im going to have to ask my wife if she would give me a advance on my allowance this week!:) those ought tobe good cons! ill try to be there!

Posted by: ColoradoProspector Nov 18 2007, 10:31 AM

happy.gif Advance on the allowance...HEHE!
We got our fingers crossed for ya' Russ! biggrin.gif

See you there Faaus, and everyone else too.......Monday night 6pm MST
The black matting held a bit o' the yellar' stuff!
Here's a sneak peak at one side of the mat. ph34r.gif Hey is that a garnet with that gold?

The water was dang cold but the sluice didn't seem to mind much. laugh.gif
Using the "pan a ton" figures .........12 buckets approx 3/4 full would figure out to just over 1/4 yard of material through the box.
Classified off dry at 1/2" minus first so all in all including rocks classified this was over 1/3 yard of material worth of work. wink.gif
Now that Denise and I have done all the hard work in the cold water........You can pan out the smiles at home! Well that is if you are the winning bidder. biggrin.gif

Mrs. CP. Hi. I'm new to this forum and I want to get in on the auction for Monday the 26th. I am also new to prospecting and have been reading everything I can find about it. I must say that I have been on many prospecting sites and the way this one is laid out and the ease of using it it tops. Many others would be proud to have a site this well planned out. Like I said, I want to get in on the auctions and would like to find out how it works. Is it held here or in the chat room? What method(s) of payment do you use? Any info you could send me would be great. I'll be looking for a reply. Thanks.

Posted by: jmann Nov 24 2007, 08:07 PM

TL this is one of the best sites around. D&D are tops in my book for sure. Joe

Hello everyone,

On the block this week we will have some really fun items.

First on the block will be a couple bags of rough material with a whole grip o' slabs......... happy.gif
Want to do some cabbing or tumbling soon?

Rough material lot contains.......
(2) Bags rough for cutting and or tumbling, 1 bag of Az. petrified wood and 1 bag of Del Norte, Co. agate. Both bags weighing over 2lbs each.
Also included in this lot of material are 25 small slabs out of the CP shop..... wink.gif
7 Dino bone, 6 Az. petrified wood, 8 Del Norte, Co. agates, 2 very rare- dark colorado agate with white druzy pockets, 1 green moss agate, 1 red "candy" agate. Total weight of all slabs is about 1.5 lbs.

Posted by: ColoradoProspector Nov 25 2007, 03:06 PM

Second on the block will be.........Specimens (2 lots)

Winning bidders choice of one of the following specimen lots.
Then the second lot left will be available at the winning bid to anyone who would also like one. happy.gif

Lot # 1 .........
The largest piece being a hand sized microcline with damged smokies. Untrimmed but could make a very nice piece with little work, excellent sheen with pale blue hue in hand. Also included in the lot is a small geothite (micromount), a nice blue amazonite crystal, smokey quartz crystal, a pseudomorph hematite after siderite, and another microcline piece (light tan).

Posted by: ColoradoProspector Nov 25 2007, 03:08 PM

Specimen lot #2 .......... happy.gif
A beautifully white and sparkly clean microcline/albite in combination with smokey quartz crystals (many top and bottom) is the center of this lot. Size of the center piece is a miniature at just under 2.5" and is a micromount delight!
Also included for this lot, another smokey quartz crystal that at first glance appears to be broken which it was.....but mother nature has tried to fix the broken end over time and the broken end now has been "mended" naturally with many small terminations. The other pieces are, geothite (micromount), a nice pale amazonite crystal with good form, a pseudomorph hematite after siderite (awesome sheen and form), and another light tan colored microcline/albite formation with awesome shape and sheen too!
