I went out and had a beautiful time over near Bond and McCoy Colorado. Those places have the neatest sandstone! I'm a sucker for some cool sandstone striations! Saw a beautiful piece of quarts in sandstone, and had a fun time.

After that I went to New Castle, meaning I get to go through Glenwood Canyon. Beautiful place and I've read fossils can be found there. Another day for that though. I didn't have much luck in New Castle, as I decided not to hike out too far. I'm still recovering from knee surgery; 3 months and 2 weeks post-op.

I drove Southwest of Grand Junction, I found this place from a small blog someone had created years ago. The information was still good so I went out. It's a 1 mile hike up to a creek bed where you can dig about and find shards. There are a lot of claims around there so it was best to stick to the trail and the creek. Had a blast!! I want to go back soon!

I found Fluorite and Amethyst! What beautiful finds they are! I make small jewelry bottles with small shards in them, this will be perfect. thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

I'm not sure what the rock with the dark and lighter blue are. The light blue is definitely not Fluorite.
