I've accumulated a decent collection of USGS topo maps of Colorado
and Rock Springs, Wy. These are 1:100,000 and 1:24,000 scale in
DRG format and are converted to "TIF". They can range in size
depending on detail 4-14mb file size.

I print them for myself on 11"x17" format in different zoom configurations.
A great viewer for them can be downloaded at:

http://mcmcweb.er.usgs.gov/drc/dlgv32pro/

The file name for the "free" version should be:

dlvg32_pro_usgs_setup.exe

One of the neat features of the program is point-to-point measuring for
distances. As you move your cursor over the maps you get continous
positioning readouts in the bottom r-corner as well.

Anyone needing maps for a particular area that I have in my collection
is welcome to request it and I will send the it via email attachment. Only
problem you may have is the size attachment your ISP allows by email.
If that is a problem then perhaps we can set up an FTP session.

There is also a group that collects these maps for several states and is
called the Rocky Mountain DRG group:
