Howdy All,
When the tourists of the world think of the American West they think of Cowboys and Indians and how the West was won. The sad fact is that the American Cowboy is an endangered species! :o

Tourism is a multi billion dollar business in our part of the country and that is being attacked by all the "right thinking", left wing, politically correct granola snappersl. It's not just saving a few endangered animals that really matters. Well meaning folks that don't have all the facts are played into thinking they are "doing the right thing". blink.gif

Our heritage and history are being attacked, and it's a sad fact that our history is being re-written. In 1950 nearly a third of the people in America either lived on the farm or were directly connected to agriclulture. By 1980 that had dropped to a mere 3%, and today it is less than 1%!! Of that one percent a tiny fraction represents the American Cowboy. Market changes and politics and big business have all been factors in forcing the most famous icon of America out of business.

Even the Native American Tribes have government supported reservations and tax breaks for their casinos. Where is the concern for the Cowboy? There are a lot more whales than there are Cowboys! unsure.gif

If we throw away our history and our rights as Americans we are all going down the road in a direction we really don't want to go! mad.gif

If you want to find the Best of the West, visit www.Travelsos.net I have a lot more to say about this subject but one fact stands out. If you took all the Cowboys and could somehow get them all to rally together that fraction of 1% wouldn't make a ripple in the political pond... hell of a note ain't it... this is precisely why all the off road folks, recreational prospectors, ranchers, farmers and just plain old American good men and women need to band together and make a lot of noise! We live in a society that truely responds to the "squeeking wheel"!!!
Happy Trails,
Johnny
PS isn't it a sad commentary that we have to shame our elected officials into supporting what's right? :(

Johnny,
We can always use your help in becoming a better part of the community, We are trying to get Outdoor clubs to join together for cross talk concerning outdoor issues about legislation and regulations.
If anyone from any area is wrongly harrassed/ticketed/Imprisioned and they are willing to fight, it will be our goal to provide people from local clubs to show up in courtrooms to show that we will not lay down to the unfair enforcement towards closures of our public lands.
It is our goal to have action alerts and response teams from different clubs, cross support each other in our goal of getting back our Heritage. If you have contacts with local clubs ( snow mobilers, Rv'ers, Atv's Motorcycles ) and they are willing to support our hobby as we support theirs then it a start in the right direction.
