Hello all, im new to the forum and just wanted to introduce myself. my name is christian and im just getting into rockhounding but ive been gold prospecting with my mother for years.
Looking to make new friends who like to play in the dirt all over colorado! Heres some pics from my first dig in the lake george area. Garnet was a gift from a friend we were with but all the rest were pulled from the same area I was told that the topaz was beginners luck, everyone was very surprised when i found it, especially since i almost tossed it because i was looking for smokey quartz pillars. -------------------- "Hippie Like A Hacky Sack"

thanks everyone! ill post some more pics of some stones i found the other day. i believe they are either jasper or petrified wood from what ive researched on the forums here but im still a newbie at identification, only really used scratch test when i was lookin for gold, So any wisdom you all have is much appreciated. dont get me wrong gold is fun but nothing beats the feeling of ramming your fingers into a dried up water vein and popping out a dirty crystal or gemstone. ive definitely caught the bug. :p
Hope to one day meet some of you -------------------- "Hippie Like A Hacky Sack"

Welcome newcomer, so am I am I am planning a camping trip as well but first I have to drive out from Houston, so I don't wanna 'ear no complaints about ur drive! (just kidding).Plus, last time I went to Colorado to visit friends in Telluride and no prospecting, my cl husband was with me (he's now gone) and we broke down in west Texas and had to wait two days for an alternator and had to camp in my car and it snowed!!! Finally made is to Telluride and had a blast. I will be coming solo this time but have a new engine and don't foresee any breakdowns. I look so forward to getting out there and learning some things. It looks like you got a great start on Lake George! I've heard a lot about that area.
Look forward to it! Ciao! Silky |
