Graphic enlargement of the rain gutter sluice with endcap modification and water manifold.

I'd remove the (green) quick connect, and place a sturdy PVC ball valve inline just after the 90 elbow and prior to placing the garden hose quick connect on "plumbing circuit."

PVC ball valve keeps the clean line of the original designer of this sluice. Also, the PVC ball valve gives more tweak increments and longer service than the cheaper garden department "Y" double ball valve will provide...in my opinion.

I've also seen water manifolds with the backside (toward the endcap, removed, which would give a more uniform waterflow.

I don't ever like my full out pump output dictating water flow when I'm working with fines in a setup like is pictured here.

Howdy gold tutor,
I got this email today from an Internet friend:

Hello Johnny. This is Tom C. from New Jersey. Could you please tell me
how to test gold flakes to see it's real gold. Still looking to see who sells pay
dirt. Thank you very much Tom C.

Tom is a good old boy from NJ, a city dweller it sounds like but he has done a lot of rock polishing and that sort of thing... what sort of test would answer his question to see if that shiney stuff is really gold? blink.gif

Merry Christmas and Happy Prospecting in the New Year!
Johnny

Hi, Johnny,
Thanks for emailing.

I hope you don't mind...I started a new thread with your cool question from your friend Tom.

I get asked alot how to tell if this or that is gold. It is a good question.

Hope to see you on the new thread.

And Merry Christmas to you and yours. Nice to meet you!!
