I found this in the river yesterday when I was classifying. Not really sure what it is?

At this point I don't even have a good guess Goldlane.

Any more info on these? Where were they found? (general area)

Dave S., I found them in the Arkansas river in Lamar, CO. I was digging for gold and found these. O thought they were interesting but have no idea what they are. I did find a lapidary as well.

Cool rocks! Is really hard to tell by just a pic but when I looked at the first one I thought Epidote mass with Quartz because of the green and white bands.

Just a thought not a for sure.

Just an impression, but it looks like a sea sponge or coral where the carbonate has been replaced with chert. Geologists luv polysyllabic words so they would call it chertification.

Does the rock ring like a bell when tapped by a hammer?
