Hello everyone...... Mrs CP and I have chosen Memorial day weekend for a CP club memebers only outing.
All current members are invited to come work a private claim with us and keep all the gold you find.
The claim is right in Fairplay and is on the river. Dredges, highbankers, detectors, and sluices are fine.
More details to follow soon.
Does this sound like fun to anyone else?
CP
Sounds like a lot of fun :D I wish we could have hooked up while you were in AZ The weather couldn't have been better and the prospecting was great B)
A little early for me to call. But it sounds awsome and we will do our very best to make it. Joe,Roxie and Cindy
if its on my days off, count me in ^_^
And if you are around the weekend before, join the CCC crew. We'll start out at Cache Creek for a few days and then probably be on our claim on the Arkansas. I'll post firm dates in a few weeks. If you are coming from out of town and want to get in a week or so, let me know and watch here. Come over and "Blow a froth" or two with Ed and I and the rest of the gang.
Leonard
Ok! Here's the CCC plans for May. Sounds like it could fit in with CP's. You are all welcome to join us wherever we are. Especially Denise Dan, you are welcome along with the Boy Detector also.
May 19th OKJohn and I will be camping at SawMill Flats on the road above Granite heading to Lost Canyon. It's the big sweeping curve with a big meadow on the right a mile or so after you start up the hill in the trees after you cross the flats. We plan on highbanking/drywashing/whatever at Cache Creek for a couple of days. Depending on how that goes, we will sooner or later, maybe, go to our High Hopes claim on the Arkansas for a little dredging. John leaves on the 25th. I may go then or if someone is around, stay for a few more days.
Leonard
looks like its gonna be a good one, but i'll have to wait and check my schedule when it gets a little closer. But I am real interested in the outing, sounds good.
Lyndon
This is our chance to meet you all, so count us in... :D
What are the conditions at this site,
Shallow water?
or
Deep fast running?
How close can you get with the car?
This outing is going to be a blast! B)
Oh yeah, I'm totally in for this one!!!! My sis in law will be out to keep the Mrs company so I can definitely skin out for a week of diggin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AWESOME EVERYONE! B) :D
It will be great to see so many CP club members at one time.
Hopefully the water will be very tolerable....as in temps, speed, and depth. ^_^
We would like to know who plans on bringing their equipmentand what type, so we can figure out how many pieces will be there and where we can put them.
Still haven't heard anything for on-site camping.....we'll keep ya posted as we find out.
There is plenty of FS land around town for those of you who would prefer to drycamp.
And for those of you who would rather not dry camp :P there are several motel/hotels in town and also several RV campgrounds.
All levels of CP club membership (and family) are invited to this outing. Cost is FREE and you may keep ALL THE GOLD you find! B)
You may use any equipment upto and including 4" intakes.
We still have many details to work out over the next couple months but we think everyone will have a great time. :)
Contact us if you are not yet a member and would like to attend.

CP
Dan Put me down for a 2.5 inch dredge and will be staying at Whispering Aspen RV Park. I am sure Christopher (aka DredgeBoy) will be with me, along with the lovely and vivacious Geraldine Catherine(aka Gerri).
Please let me know when you firm up dates and times. I think we will have to make reservations with that being a Holiday and all.
And this is to all who want to pertake in this adventure.
Any of you who attended the Rocky Mountain Miner's Rally, Will remember how hard Dan and Denise worked and devoted so much of their time to make it a succuss
In the previous post Dan said that this event is free! Well, we all know nothing is free
As a lifetime member of the Colorado Prospectors I motion that we set up some raffles with donations to help offset any cost Dan & Denise incur.
Later today, I will be setting up another thread to post these raffles on. I will be starting the raffle with a gold nugget that is in the shape of an angel. When I set up the thread I will post a picture. I know Denise will remember this nugget. So look for the thread later today and let's get this started.
dan knows what i'll be using ^_^
i will find out soon enough on if i will be there or not, hell if i have to take vacation time i will, dont want to miss this... ;)
in case you forgot dan, i have a 3"dredge ^_^
as for a place to stay, heck lets all stay in the cp's house, toast wienies and sing koombya... no?
Thank you Garry.....That is awesome!
Two thumbs up buddy..... :D and we got ya down for a 2.5" dredge.
We hope all the members make this outing....it's gonna be a grand ol' time! ;)
Ummmmm Wyodust........I don't think we can fit everyone here and I'm fairly certain I don't need to hear you sing. ....but I'll put you down for a 3" dredge. :)
:D
CP
<_< fine i'll bring my camper then
I've got a A51 sluice, a Gold King sluice, a EZ sluice and will soon have a LeTrap sluice. Also will bring a Lobo ST and a Whites GMT. Sorry no motorized equipment yet...
Ernie I can always use another tender if your open for it.
Does that mean I'll have Tender Foot? HA HA HA I crack myself up...Yeah sure I can tend for ya for a spell!
I thought I would drop a pic in here of the area all froze over.
I cant wait till it thaws. ^_^
Wow, What a great looking place.
:D :D
We are also going to have prize giveaways during the weekend,
and treasure hunting and sluicing for the kids.
I know Im ready......
B)
that water doesnt look much colder than it did in sept denise ^_^
i told dan (cp ) in chat, but i will let everyone know here....i will be bringing my 2" highbanker to the outing, for a "comon" operation, dan has something in mind for it, so just to let you know, if you dont have a sluice or anything, someone will be there to help ya out...see ya there :)
Wow! Nice spot! Is that all old tailings? My Lobo wants to know...
Wyodust, we will find out in May wont we..... and thank you, thats nice of you to share!
You can tell your Lobo EE that it will have a great time here... because yes, the South Platte is going through the tailings piles. ;) B)
Here is a pic looking east from HW 285......We will be able to be on the left side.
:D
Here is a pic looking north from the southern side of the tailings piles at Fairplay.... ^_^
Looking east from highway 285 that looks like virgin ground.
:D :D
When looking east are you looking towards the guest ranch.
Man that place looks famliar
well i can see that everyone is going to have a lot of fun at the getogether! i wish i could make it, but unfortunatly i cant! have a great time!
No Cornwall, I dont think so.
Maybe next time Russ, dang it......... :(
Must be looking at the wrong place on google earth
:( :(
Here is a pic South East of Fairplay on Hwy 9 about 4 - 6 miles away. You can barely see Fairplay under the mountains....Isnt it pretty. ^_^
The frozen water you see is also the South Platte.
You are so fortunate to live in a place like that,Yes it is extremely pretty denise.
:D :D
O' Man Denise your kill'n me here with the pictures. I got the fever so bad........
I know you remember us talking about those very same tailing piles. And, now we are actually going to get to go thru them HURRAH! We're going to have more fun than watchin' a one legged man trying to start a motorcycle. Only 81 more days and counting
Garry
I cant wait! Spending time with friends and family is the best way to spend the day.
B)
Oh man those piles look good...I'll definitely be bringin the beeping arsenal with me. Mr Olsen, you may have lost a tender...
Anyone have any thoughts on where they are going to stay in Fairplay?
We have an RV and have stayed at the Whispering Aspen RV Resort. I think we will stay there again. It would be nice to know if anyone else will be there and then we can get spaces close together
here is a link for them http://www.whisperingaspen.com/
Any good areas to throw a tent up? (Notice I didn't use the word "pitch")....
You can put a tent up at the outing spot, but it will be a little bit lumpy ...hehe
Sounds like there will be several people staying there also. ;)
Ooooh, it's gettin warm out!!!! That means the outing is around the bend!!! I can't freakin wait!!!!!!!!!!!!
The creek has opened up from the ice and is flowing! :o
Maybe I'll get pics this weekend when I go over to check it out..
I cant wait.....
B)
Hi, Mrs cp, my wife and I are staying in town and looking forward to the outing. The question is about the pot luck meal. we will be traveling from Okla. and would like to know what we can bring and about how much of a item is needed for the meal. we can bring can goods (corn, green beans, ect.) and heat it up on the coleman.
Thought we could put together some details here in the forum for the potluck and or other eatin details.......
so far plans for eatin' are..... lunch and dinner on Saturday, lunch and dinner on Sunday, and lunch on Monday.
Dinner on Saturady will be a pot luck, so If you would like to bring something, just let us know.
We will be making smothered burritos/tacos on Sunday for Dinner.
In the mornings we will try to have coffee and doughnuts/muffins for discussions.
Lunches will more than likely be make ya' own cold cuts and chips etc.
If you would like to bring something else or contribute more towards the meals...please feel free. Contact MrsCP and let us know what you would like to bring.
We would also like to have some group discussions about history, land rights, equipment, claims, etc...maybe we can have one each morning and then one in the evenings with dinner.....or?
Feel free to make suggestions.
Gonna be a blast for all! B)
CP
:P Is there any firm dates set for this yet or are the details still being hammered out? I just want to know so I can get the weekend off and not get beat out by my other coworkers/lazylouts...
May 27th -29th. Sorry, I thought we said that.....ooops. :D
I'm glad you said something, I had us arriving on the 28th, I guess I better move it up some.......
I sent members an e-mail in Febuary with dates....Didnt you 2 get yours? ...hehehe
:)
I didn't get anything Denise, but that's okay!
I was incorrect, I was looking at the wrong month we ARE arriving Friday May 26 and departing Tuesday May 30th
I put in for the time off. I should be able to secure those dates. Man, I can't wait. I'm thinkin about hittin that Left Hand Canyon open spot next week. Now that it's a little warmer, the diggin should be a bit easier.
My sis in law comes out for two weeks starting on the 22nd. I'll be diggin and golfin the whole time! WOO HOO!!! Lots of relatives are planning to come out this year to gawk at Gavin, so that gives me some time to play!!! :P :P :P
the evil...lets have a kid so the relitives can gawk at him while i go play ploy huh
:D
Here is a pic from today at the outing area looking at the road.
The water level is starting to rise a bit also.
This view is looking to the right...
This pic is looking to the left... B)
If you hold your nose real close to the screen you can smell it............The smell of new gold.

Can't wait to go!
Here is a pic of gold off the tailings pile.
I think were going to have fun. :D
What a great sight for sore eyes your GOLD from the tailings looks great. Yes I have'nt seen that for some time as I'm just getting back into hunting for gold. The calender days aren't changing fast enough and I know that when my wife and I get there they won't slow down. Just beleve with some help and work we will have some pictures to post when we come home. I know we will have a great time meeting everyone there and putting a face with a name. Just like a little kid why do we have to wait, I want the gold now. HeHe See you soon John
ooooooh course and chunky....just like me :P nice lil vial of yeller ;)
Ooooh yer freakin killin me...I can't wait!!!! I have many empty vials just waitin to be filled!!!
:D Glad you all are so enthusiastic!
We will be setting up the mini sluice for cons clean up from last weekends test run of the outing spot.....oh yea.....we will also show it on the live cam soon so check http://www.coloradoprospector.com/cp_webcam.html
Pics of the gold will be posted later if ya miss the cam shots..... if there is any :o
Sure there will be a few specks but this was only a test and we only ran a few hours if that.
CP
Dan & Denise, If I missed it please forgive me. Are you going to post a map of the outing? Where the claim is and where all the functions are going to be?
Thanks
What is the detecting like at the site? What works better in that area? A Minelab GP 3000 or a Whites MXT? Any idea of the size of nuggets?
I am considering joining the club so would like some idea about the outing and potentials
THANKS :D
Hi Rocky,
The CP members and club would very much like to have you and your family's participation. Thank you for considering us.
As far as the detecting on the tailings...... Our son Mike uses a tesoro gold bug II and he is a beginner. When he gets done with his attempts he has this look....
He says he has a hard time with all the hot rocks. <_<
Sorry I don't have more info than that but I'm not much of a detectorist yet. :D
There is a pic of gold further back in this thread that someone found on the tailings pile.
The outing looks to be filled with fun and friends so make all your plans now...gonna be a blast!
Garry, Nope you didn't miss anything and yes we will send out maps and gps coordinates to all the club members on the deadline date......
Did he just say DEADLINE?! :o
Yep, I did say that.... the deadline date to sign up and attend this outing will be 5/15/06.
On 5/16/06 all CP club members will receive an email with map and gps coordinates to the site. If you want to attend you have 2 weeks left to sign up with the club.
If you are already signed up and plan on coming....make sure you email us by the deadline (5/15/06) so we can plan for your attendance. If you already emailed us to attend...thank you and we have you on the list. ^_^
We still didn't get the cons all cleaned out yet for pics......stupid snow!
Did see a few nice specks though. B)
Still lots more to plan out but the porta potties are reserved and the hot sauces for burritos/tacos are here. :o Can't even post the names of some of these hot sauces....LOL
But one comes with a little toilet on a keychain filled with lip balm......wonder which end you use it on.... :o must be hot stuff! We may have to post a warning sign with these puppies.... :P
CP
Okay, I just joined so send me the info on the outing.
I was in Fairpaly this weekend driving around. Would be interested in where the claim is located. If you want to send private info please do so.
Little snowy on Hosier pass this afternoon.
Went up the following creeks to get the lay of the land.
Mosquito
Buckskin
Pennsylvania
Sacramento
Sure wish the weather was a little nicer and that I would have known where the public lands start and end. Have to scope it out for the next trip.
B) hope to see ya there
camper is about ready to go, then a couple small tweeks to the dredge and im ready....cant wait to see the cp's again, and meet some of you fine people.
heck finding some gold is just a added bonus, see ya there ^_^
That one pic looks like the town park....
We will be just outside of town Carl.
And no, its not the park.
it's a secret, if she told you she would have to kill ya!
Hi Denise, Mikes having problems with hot rocks, are you sure that its a tesoro and not a fisher gold bug 11.this may help
http://www.fisherlab.com/fisherbeta/specsheets/goldbug2.pdf
good luck mike
Im sure its a Tesoro Bandido 2.
Thanks for your help Alan.
Hey Mike!!! I'll be bringin my LST and my GMT. You're more than welcome to try them out!
ooooo the outing is showing in upcoming events in the forum here...hehe
Its going to be a blast!
12 days to go. My drysuit is inspected and packed, Hooka system all checked out,
won't forget the weights this time. This week I'll inspect and service dredge. Next week fill the gas cans and ready the coach. Man is the excitement building! Anyone out there that has not joined CP yet, you are about to miss out on the outing of the decade. I spoke with Joe Mann at the last Show Me Gold outing and I think he said he has a new stock of 5 gallon buckets. (Anyone remember the RMMR) I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Denise makes her burritos (Oh man now I'm hungry)
I have seen pictures of the gold that came from area 12 I think that's the area WYO claimed, That's close to Fairplay. I have seen these dredge tailings and they are HUGE I can't imagine there has been very much metal detecting in there. We all know what happens to any nuggets that are BIGGER than the holes in the grizzly
Call CP NOW don't be the one that wished he/she went after they see the after pictures of this outing.
OOOO OOO Cant wait to get out and see you all!!!!! plane tickets are bot car is rented bag is packed camera batterys are charged yeah i guess im ready now im like a tv comercle standing at the glass window waitting for the store to open saying OPEN OPEN OPEN !!!! HEHE
Gat.
WoooooooHoooooo!!!!!!
Gettin close now!
D-Day today as well
If you been waiting to sign up....today is the day
We will call it at 7am MST in the morning, so that gives ya a few extra hours tonight to get er done.
Next weekend we will do a bit of trash clean up and further testing?
Let us know if some of you closer members would like to come up for a sneak peek this next Saturday. (5/20)
Anyone who is already signed up ...today is also your deadline for letting us know you want to attend.....if you have already sent us a message.....you're on the list.
If you haven't yet..... HEHE Might want to do that today.
Have a great day today........Did I mention how nice the weather is gettin......
CP
as of tuesday im on three weeks off...aaaaaaaah took some vacation just for this event, not missing this one
wifey has 4 rolls of film for her camera...i hope its enough
have to do a little work on the dredge...bought a new pump suction hose and a air tube extention, need to mount that still...the camper is about ready and, heck who needs clothes ok i will pack clothes, just for the ones with weak tummys.
will be using a dry suit for the first time, i better get some more weights.... also a full face mask.....cant wait.........
Well, looks like I'm not going after all. I was "outranked" by a senior engineer for Mem weekend at the last friggin moment. I'll end up working sat, sun, mon, and tues nights. We had a couple of high level engineers quit and now their short handed. So I get to bite the bullet and come in. The holiday pay will come in handy but I'd rather be sweatin on those tailings...
If anyone would like to borrow my beepers, sluices, etc. Let me know and I'll arrange a meeting to deliver the goodies.
Any chance that we could get access to the claim at a later time, or is this a one time only deal?
That really stinks EE!!!!
Dan was wanting to go out this weekend and clean up some garbage and do some more testing. You free this weekend to go? If not, we will think of something for you. ...sigh.....That really stinks you wont be able to come on Memorial weekend.
well that sucks double E.... we will have to hook up later in the year somewhere....was looking forwards to meeting you....your loss
see you sometime buddy, cheer up, its not the end of the world, just seems like it
Yea evil 1 it sure does suck. I want to see what kinda hair id see you in this time. Joe
is it time yet......less than a week away...might even get all three of my hairs cut for this event
were bringing like 28 chicken thighs for the pot luck dinner, i hope thats enough!
well it might be if we keep mikey away from it
see ya soon
Hi Rocky.........OOOPPPPPSSSS! We goofed....sorry.
Check your e-mail .....map and gps should be there now.
Gettin close now......got a bunch of the garbage cleaned up yesterday, today we may just have to try out the highbanking spot see how it works...
As we cleaned up yesterday we left and/or placed tinfoil balls to keep Garry busy with his detector.... Just kiddin.
Double E......that sucks! sorry man....wish you didn't have to work....
Let us know later when ya got some time off and we will get ya some time on this creek. Stupid bosses!
Here is a pic of the water....whew....good run off right now....got weights?
Cya's soon.
CP
Sorry Mike, I thought I had you on the map e-mail list.
If I missed anyone else, please let me know.
Here is a pic of Timmy by some of the garbage we picked up.......WOW!
There was alot...I think all of Fairplays winds bring it right to this spot.
This is where the dredge stopped, and its all fresh untouched dirt to the left, just waiting to be highbanked... ...Im saving the pics of that hill side for later.
This is on the left side of the creek about 150 feet or so, where there are a few ponds.
This is an excelent spot for detecting Reif........Lots of the members are going to be bringing their detectors along......Are you sure your not going to be coming?.....
Hey Dan, that's not fair NO TIN FOIL
Hey if anyone is interested and, I don't want to intrude with any plan activities. I several movies about prospecting, Treasures of Sierra Madra, Paint Your Wagon and North to Alsaka. We will be having a movie night at the RV. All are invited. I will provide details at the outing
NO TIN FOIL Dan I mean it
Ok Ok Garry......I won't put out any "MORE" foil...HEHEHEHE
Today we gave the highbanking area now officially called "HIGHBANKTOPIA" a 3 hour test run.
Anyways....heres a pic of a few colors highgraded off the black matting....didn't run any cons yet.
Just thought ya'll may need something to think about this week at work.
Reif...we will have to make sure you know about "stupid boss" make up day for EE when we get'er planed out.....
Enjoy the pic and travel safe folks.
CP
Before anyone says maybe there ain't 50 or I wish it was a close up.....hehe here ya go.... MMMMMMMMM CHUUUUNNNNKKKKYYYYYYY!

A big hats off to Dan and Denise. They put one helluva outing together. Should be some rich folks leavin on tuesday!!!
This is a sample of about an hour of light diggin with the highbanker (thanks for lettin me use it!)
A shot of some the usual suspects.
From the left: Dan, Gat, Snowdog, Jmann, and Denise.
I also had the privilege to meet wyodust and Tammy, dux, Madd.
Its turning out to be a great weekend!!
We even have a flag pole thanks to Snowdog.
Highbanking seems to be the thing.......
This is what Darryl and Paulette found there first time highbanking with their unit.
Cant wait to see what they get today
They both looked like this while panning it out.....
And wheeeew, Ducks "ant gold"... ........
He was freezing from dredging with his new used 5", and to help warm up he decided to try the hill side some.
This is what he found in about 1 1/2 buckets, putting an ant hill through his roto-pan.
He was pleased!
More pics coming soon....have to go.
I knew they'd be rich!!!!!!!!!!! Well done!!!!!!!!!!!!
Back home safe and sound. Was good to see everyone- wasn't prepared to spend the night but was talked into it anyways. Couldn't stay for the buritoes cause I probly would have froze another night. Best outing I been to in awhile. Thanks D & D. Mark

We have attached a photo of our our final cleanup and look forward to getting together with everyone again soon!
Darryl and Paulette
Thanks Dan and Denise that was the most fun that we have had in a long time. Good gold and great people. What more could you ask for.
This is truly a good group of people, we cant wait till the next outting.
Could this be cheating ?
Well I was there even if I didn't partake. Worst case of altitude sickess ever. We left early this morning so I didn't get to say goodbye to everyone. Sorry I will make it up next time.
We are sitting in the parking lot of Hays Kansas Wal-Mart going to spend the night here and be in St. Louis tomorrow afternoon.
Good looks great, I suggest everyone who didn't make it this time, make it next time
Gary hope your feelin better at lower altitude. Take care buddy, Mark
well it looks like it was another successfull outting the D&D crew pulled off! i can see everyone was having a ball!
Sorry you were so sick Garry,
Hopefully you will be able to make the make up outing for the ones who missed this one.
We did have a blast Russ. I was able to get alot more pictures this outing, and as soon as I finish putting in the gold pics, I'll add the pics of everyone working and having fun.
Good to see you all made it home ok!
Here is a picture of some of Bill and Carols gold. They found 4 match head sized pickers, so she put them in a large vile. I didnt get a picture of their fines though.
Some of Snowdogs gold.
Little John and Jackies gold.
Wyodust and Tammies gold.
Jmann and Johns gold.
This is what CP highgraded out of the black mat from me highbanking for about 2 hours or so.

Gat.
Made it home. Tha nks again guys, after I got down to Denver I started to feel better I'll definately be at the next this time that GOLD is mine all mine
Well what can a person say that just had the best time with a GREAT bunch of people. Thanks to D & D and the rest of the group that made my first outting a complete success. Also thanks to everyone that made my wife (and myself) feel very welcome.
I came away with a lot more information on prospecting as everyone was willing to share their stories and knowlage about their past gold adventures.
I never thought that a women could keep up, let along out work a man on a shovel, but on this outting I saw three women that did that feat.
I found out that Madd isn't Mad he just wants to keep his gold. I tried every story and trick to seperate him from his GOLD, but nothing worked. He is a GREAT person and helped everyone and could make money with stock in Coke (hehe).
Gat also helped us with his experence and helped me set up my trommel(Madd did his best to not laugh out loud).
GAT a special Thank You for what you gave me from you buckel. It is my first piece of gold that I can hold and show in my hand, and will always remember what you did. John
Your welcome Little john it was worth it just too see that look on your face my friend!!! oh and the look on madds face was even better how thay say that oh yeah priceless !!!!
Gat.
John and I made it home in good shape. O yea he's bit and I mean bit real good. The whole time coming home all he talk about was " When we going back Joe" It was great to see old friends and meet new ones. The food was outstanding and plentiful. The GOLD was everywhere everyone looked it seemed. Mourning and evening discussions were very well presented and hashed out. Did I say it was a GREAT OUTTING. Thanks to all who made it and especially to our hosts Dan, Denise, Mike and Timmy. Joe

Here are a few pics of the fine folks who made this weekend great......
Darryl & Paulette really enjoyed highbanking for the first time.
Duck got to try out his new triple at high altitude.
Duck also got some expert consultations from Madd.
John and Jackie were working with a cute little trommel that was battery powered.
All the kids seemed to really enjoy the sawdust treasure hunt.
Guess more than just the kids enjoyed the sawdust....musta had tired paws.
Joe Mann and John were highbanking the hill as well.......that mean they're highbankin hillbillies?
Just wanted to chime in and thank everyone for the great weekend.
Foremost Dan and Denise. They put together a great weekend but I would also like to thank them for all the great work they do year round fighting for our rights
A big thank you to Madd. His knowledge and experience is unmatched. I appreciate all of his help and advice. He taught me some things that could save my life in the future. I will always be in his debt.
Gat, thanks for the use of your gear. Full face v/s a mask in that water was a no-brainer.
Thanks, Snowdog for the super deep nomad mat.
Finally a big thank you to everyone else who made it a great weekend. Hope to see you all next time.
Joe also brought his feeder & mini sluice for clean ups.....Thanks buddy.
Snowdog had some help with his homemade set up.
