Can someone tell me what the rules are for dredging or running a sluice in a stream in Colorado? Has anyone ever worked the South Fork outside Alamosa??
I'm in nm so any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi NMJack and welcome to the CP forum and site. Make yourself right at home.

Colorado does not have dredging permits for the state and for panning and or sluicing you do not need any permits.
You do need to make sure of the land status of where you are intending to propsect though......making sure it is not patented or a location claim.
When in South Fork you might stop in the local grocery store and inquire.........I happen to know that the owners are prospectors and I'm proud to say....CP club members. biggrin.gif
Tell em' CP sent ya'.

Good luck on your prospecting in Colorado and safe travels.

Thanks for the quick reply and info. I will be in Colo. in July so hopefully the
runoff won't be to bad. I sure would like to talk to those folks in South Fork before
I head up that way. I can be reached @ gcann03@hotmail.com. I've prospected here in nm for about the last 12 yrs. but just recently sold my claims and was looking for something in colo. We used to take family vacations every year when I was a kid to a little place outside South Fork.
Thanks
