Looking for some help on the Arkansas River levels. Where is the best source and more importantly what do they mean in a practical sense? I can find some readings for water levels but not knowing anything about the river they don't tell me much. "is xx feet of water at yyy" , I don't have a point of reference. Is this raging rapids that will sweep you away or manageable ?
Also I seem to remember last year as being a big snow year, how about this year? Heading up at the beginning of July and would like a guesstimate of what i am looking at in the river. Thanks, Easygoer |

I hear what you're saying! Here is a link to some live webcams of the Arkansas river, it helps to get a better idea. I hope this helps some.

There is a good app called River App. Works great for tracking rise and fall of river levels. As you allude to, it's hard to know what the level means with no reference. I always checked it before we hit our claim and Clear Creek, so I knew what that would mean for the spot we'd be working.
