Small flies, big fish. I tied these size #16 Chironomid Larva patterns and have been doing really well with them this spring!

looking good. nothing beats time at the vice it is the best way to learn. then open your mind to materials that are " just around " stuff to play with. the tyer's mind can be a strange place . pike are my summer fish and trout are for the winter

Thank you 720! Hubby is tying small birds to attract the pike. His mind has always been a bit strange, but I suppose that's the pot calling the kettle black :)

Thank you 720! Hubby is tying small birds to attract the pike. His mind has always been a bit strange, but I suppose that's the pot calling the kettle black :) awesome. I ty up duckling's for the pike, tell him to do some gully worms as well -------------------- I want nuggets

That's all I'm saying lol. hahaha, I do ty a black bird for pike. after seeing a 50+ inch pike take a shot at one. the duckling because of watching pike eat them as they were swimming with the family. poppers,birds, and ducks are best fished in the spring -------------------- I want nuggets

Getting to be that time of year. I've been tying up my springtime favorites for early season in North Park.
Tungsten Head Chironomids. My favorite fly for high lakes. Chironomids by GhostCreekMine, on Flickr Tung Head Wooly Buggers, Black and Peacock Black WB by GhostCreekMine, on Flickr Bullet Head Buggers, Olive and Brown Olive Brown WB by GhostCreekMine, on Flickr Barr's Slumpbuster, I tied these in Olive and a few Rust colored.
