OK.......Sorry it took me so long to put this one up, but we have so many samples to pick from, I wasn't sure what one to pick. ^_^ ;) Plus I need to know myself what it is. :D
Can you tell me what this sample is? :) <_< :) -------------------- Education is the key to the future,

if it's not xtal quartz, I would guess calcite or maybe topaz.
Appearence is such a bad indicator, a hardness test or a streak test or even a HCL test would be my first attempts at identification. Appearences can be misleading. -------------------- |

Wrong crystal structure for rutile...
....Jarosite?... ....could be vanadinite?... ....or it could be apatite?... ....I doubt it's pyromorphite?... ....might be titanite?... ....an odd formation of aragonite?... ....wrong crystalstructure for barite (I think)?... ....or it coupld be epidote?... ....even I'm not sure about scapolite?... ....and if it ain't one of those, I must confess to my ignorance. Because there isn't much after that. Carl -------------------- Today's socio-political climate is rock solid proof that Adam and Eve weren't prospectors.

lol...as long as it's been answered I don't have to drive Bill crazy with my massive web searches!! Luckily he's at the claim today...my back is jacked up so I stayed home today :( He better bring me some gold!! hahaha
funny thing is, is that last night I was so tired and aragonite was one of about three that I was considering as an answer...but i type in the vanadinite, knowing the color was a bit dark for it. either way...I'm glad someone got it right!! :P Take care!! kriss -------------------- "The original point and click interface was a Smith and Wesson."
