went down and dug 8 buckets of material today. Bought it home and classified it down to -8. All the extra rock went to fill in some spots in my driveway that needed more rock. ;)

Ended up with 3 full buckets of -8 material.

Makeshift setup my gold buddy to provide water to my sluice (I hate the gold buddy, all it ever does is pack up with dirt, the pump that comes with it is not strong enough for the unit). Ran almost one bucket. Cleaned the sluice after just 5 scoops and found the biggest 'nugget' I have ever found. thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

Still small as hell, but nice and chunky and still the biggest single pice I have ever found.

And my jerry rigged setup... (sucks on a budget)...

Great use of the day. Wish I was out digging in the ground. Congrads on your find, Wody.

was the nuggie found in the alum sluice or the plastic sluice? also did you rerun the tailings at a different angle/water pressure to see if youve got it all? i always rerun my cons at a different setting.

It was in the mackirk. Everything was. I gave up on using the gold buddy as a slice last year. The pump doesn't provide enough water for it to work properly.

I need to make a stand for the mackirk so I can just sit it in and have direct water to it and get rid of the gold buddy.

Well, after running all the dirt, I managed to cover the bottom of a pw container. Hardly crap overall, but it took me more than one days digging to get that much last season. That's progress. ;)

I should add, this is the first time I have 'panned' good enough to clean the gold pretty good. Takes time and patients, but I love seeing the gold in the pan without all the black sands. So I have no doubt I have a lot to learn yet.

Here is a blurry picture of what came from those buckets (minus some due to my stupidity of having the container in my pocket and having it open... I managed to get all the big pieces out of my pocket, but the fines from the first bucket are now part of my shorts)...

Got down to dig and fill 4 buckets with -8 material. Ran one bucket of material that wasn't from my main dig site, but a 'test' area off to the side.

Here's what I found in that bucket (about 2/3'rds of a 5 gallon bucket)
