Got out with the little pony today and poked around.
(I haven't cleaned these)

I thought this might be Obsidian but probably just a hard Shale.


This is a cool piece of Jasper or Chert. I may be able to cab this.


Here is a busted Geode. It has a large crystallized pocket inside which I need to expose.


I have strong reason to believe that this is a Geode but won't know for sure until I cut it. I think it's in the size range of my trim saw.

Here are a couple that my friend brought to me from Boulder County.
Any ideas on what they might be?

This Quartz mixed rock has a black (non-magnetic) inclusion that runs through the center.

I am going to guess Flint just from the pictures. Don't think that last piece is Chinese writing stone. Writing stone is all black with white andalusite crystals. Sure is interesting though! Do a hardness test on that last one if you can Chris.

i once had access to a sand and gravel plant that pulled material out of the old ancient Mississippi River channel. in its tailings race i could pickup a 5 gallon bucket of all colors of jasper i wanted in 1 hour.and most of that time was getting that bucket back to the truck for my wife!ive had some jewlery made from it for my wife. EZ pickins!
