Hiya all well im back home from my loop trip. Had a great time mostly sep the weather went bad a few times along the way. This trip was mostly rock hounding with one gold prospecting try at one of Nm Jacks gold claims (Club member)called Gary on the phone one heck of a nice guy. got the directions and out there I went. it took a wile to get there had to get some suplys first and as Nmjack suggested I stopped to eat at the restrant/gas station at the exit off the hwy its just like he said it was looks like a reg place till you notiss its a old passinger train car (really cool)oh and really good food grin! any way the road out to the claim was gravel but well maintained any auto can get out there easy Rv,s included. On the way in theres wonderful scenery and close to the claim is a old grave yard and town site corce I did check out the grave yard but really didnt know just were the town site was(darn it) hehe any way got to the claim and set up camp. Oh by the way lots of camping area too!!! I olny brought my spyro pan and gold pans to gold prospect with darn it its a great place for dry washing for sure were i set up is a small dry wash that has been worked here and there so i figgerd it would be a better chance with my lack of equipment to find some gold. I didnt get to hike a lot around but were I did go was really cool. theres a larger dry wash just down the hill from were i was set up will have to test next time grins. any way I worked the sides of the dry wash testing here and there and got a little color off the dry wash floor. Then came the weather!!! GGGRRRR!!! yes it dose come on quick there.I would have liked to say a few days but Gat dont like snow hehe any way that ended the dry washing and the next morning had a few inches of snow didnt take me long to deside to head ferther south lol (I do recomend this claim to all members youll have a great time there no dout)
ill post more of my loop trip soon heres a few pic,s from the claim and area.

Hi Gat:

I noticed that spiral pan set up in the photo and was wondering, have you've ever had much luck using in "dry"?

Hello Astrobleme yes it dose work dry not as good as when wet tho just like dry washing Vs dredging wet it better mainly because wet brakes down the clumps better and riffles make a low pressure to pull the heavies in wile dry is a gravity placement of the heavies .in the spyro pan its a gravity thing too this one dose have the brake up bumps to help brake up the clumps but it never gets them all well it dose help to use a smaller classafyer too but you cant use it if you aint got it with you grin. hope this explans it for you.
