Where to start diamond hunting in Colorado, diamond hunting Options

Greetings this fine Monday morning,

My 5 y.o. son has his heart set on diamond hunting - would you all have suggestions on where to start? I would like to check out the kimberlite formations north of Fort Collins; however, I have no idea where we might be able to go. Suggestions?

I'm hearing from successful diamond hunters that areas near my mining claims have produced some good sized diamonds this summer. There is a map of my claims posted on the "CP Club Members Protected" forum under the Colorado Diamond Prospecting topic.

While no prospecting, collecting or other disturbance to the mineral resources are allowed on my claims, the surrounding areas may be accessible. You'll need to follow-up on locations that interest you by seeking permission or going onto public lands that aren't already under mineral claims. Spending some time researching the area can pay-off. It is mostly up to the individual as to how much effort they want to put into finding a good spot hunt. I think a kid would love digging for diamonds.

Thank you! That is immensely helpful, thanks for your reply. We're planning on taking a couple of sifting pans and a shovel; also celebratory hip-flasks for the adults and lollipops for the kiddos. Hopefully that is adequate equipment for a first outing. We'll keep you posted if we find anything interesting :)
