Howdy y'all! Well met!
I'm a brand spanking new tenderfoot greenhorn Colorado Prospector. I just got signed up as a member and thought I would poke my head in and introduce myself. I was born and raised on the western slope where my mom introduced me to rock hounding and hunting for Indian artifacts. I can remember us finding tons of fossils and we even found a dinosaur vertebrae once. Indian beads (always stop and check ant hills), arrow heads and broken pottery seemed so common that we were practically trippin' over 'em. When I was an early teenager, my dad went to work at Climax Molybdenum mine, so we relocated to Leadville, Colorado. Being a punk teenager, I couldn't care less about the the extremely rich, historic and beautiful country that I was in. All I wanted to do was chase girls and drink beer. I could really kick myself HARD when I think about all of the great prospecting opportunities that I passed up. Then again, if it hadn't been for chasing girls, I might not have met my wonderful wife whom I've been with for 26 years. When I turned 18 I went to work at Climax Molybdenum where I operated a hammer mill crusher. I probably would have made it a career if Climax hadn't shut down due to huge stock piles of Moly and no demand for it. Joined the Air Force and was an F-16 Crew Chief for about 4 years. Got fed up with that so we came back to Colorado where we currently live in Longmont. I now design electronics and firmware for radiation detection monitors. Anyway, I've always had rocks in my head. Some of them are awful heavy and I think they are lodged in there pretty darn good. It's Going to take a lot more than a poop tube to get them out. Doing some serious prospecting should loosen them up a bit... Going to Fairplay this weekend. Can't wait!!! Got a Desert Fox to let loose on the beach (and a few other choice locations). It's HUNGRY and needs to be fed real bad! Went to Idaho Springs a few weekends ago and got skunked big time. By the way, if your a GPAA member, don't bother going to Homack #1-3. It's some sort of a dude ranch and the gate is locked up with a "Special Occupancy Closure Order" from the Clear Creek Ranger District posted on it. Took a sample from Barbour Fork but it was colorless. If you like to mountain bike, this is a great area. I'm too dang fat and lazy for such nonsense! Well I'm rattling off like Tom Massey so I guess it's time to clean up and shut down for awhile. Looking forward to sharing (and maybe creating) a few experiences with y'all. Sorry about the long winded life story. I'll try to contribute more useful material in the future. Happy digin's, Boogie -------------------- peto metallum honestus
