I went over Borreas Pass road last year from Como to Breck. Looked like some nice places to work the Tarryall stream down by the Gold Dust trail, but many posted signs as well. Also some places higher up the road towards Breck. Has anyone tried that area and any luck? Maybe anything in the tailings?

Hi Rich:

That area also looked good to me about 15 years ago. I put together a targeted plan to sample some of the few publicly accessible lands along Tarryall Creek area by panning, sluicing and metal detecting.

While I had lots of fun and enjoyed prospecting that area, I was disappointed in the sampling results and moved on to more productive ground.

From what I remember, the best locations for placer gravel deposits had already been mined and the tailings were on private property with lots of "NO" signs.

If you could get permission from the private property owners in the vicinity of the old workings, that might be productive.

Best Wishes,
