Your getting this message as a personal invite to not only yourself but any and all miners willing and able to participate in the DEQ study that will be performed on the Miners Response Team Claim which is in the Little North Fork Watershed ( Detroit Lake area ). The actions taken by DEQ will affect the future permitting policy in 2005 and we will be dredging, highbanking and sluicing our damnedest to show them that the turbidity issue falls well below guidelines they themselves have established.

The DEQ is asking for a Time Frame of the first week in August 2004 and NOT the weekend timeframe as described in the lower message as you read the exchange.

We request your presence when the date is known, Directions to the claim will be provided to all respondents to Webmaster@Minersresponseteam.org

This is some of the excerpted contact exchange so far:

Hi Dave

You may recall that I spoke with you a couple of weeks back. I want to get your address so DEQ can send you a letter that highlights our plan to renew the 700-J General Permit next year. We also plan to develop a one-stop permitting process with the DSL so that the DEQ permit can be administers by them.

Thanks

Scott Manzano

Hello Scott,
I have talked it over with various members of the Miners Response Team and we have decided that we absolutely want you to come to our claim ( Little North Fork Santiam River ) and perform Testing / Video Tape as we previously discussed.

The Dredging season starts as of July 15th and extends into August 31st, We are more than willing to set a date and time for any infield assistance and co-operation.

One of the many Factors benefiting the DEQ when using our claim for analysis and questions will be:

The Claim is below a Scenic River Waterway ( travel into the scenic waterway for additional testing within the same day is possible )
The Claim is within Essential Salmon Habitat ( come see what you regulate )
The Claim is relative to the DEQ 3 Basin Rule
Easy Access to water, nice maintained trail
Easy Access for Officials and Rangers
Local to Salem and Portland ( 28 minutes east of Salem )
Various areas where testing can be performed
Sunny Location
Open to the general recreating public

We offer up easy to follow directions and a great place to come on the weekends for private swimming and general fishing spots as well. We absolutely want to be a part of any new permitting policy and currently work to get more details on the table for the mining community as a whole.

Please send all info to either

Dave - we plan to do some in the field observation at a few sites in early August. Right now, it looks like Aug 2-10 (excluding the weekend of Aug 7-8) are the dates that work best for our schedule.

Scott,
Are you able to narrow down a specific date yet for the DEQ and its study team to come to the Little North Fork and conduct your studies?. I am in contact with alot of people over this and we would like to know just what is going on and what kind of equipment you would like to monitor during the tests.

I need to hear from you and can or will meet with you in person for further information exchange if necessary, It is vitally important that we have the resources and people ready now instead of at the last minute as you imply that you'd like to conduct the information gathering during the middle of a work week for normal Prospecting families.

Please pass this information out and assist the Miining community in getting as many local miners with cameras and equipment to the location when the time is needed...You will be kept informed as to a specific date when it is known.

Spread the word and THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.
