This "What's This" is a combination of two mineral. It can be found all over Colorado.

Do you know what it is and what the two mineral are making up the combination?

If it's Unakite... there are three minerals involved.
"Unakite is a type of granite. It is composed of salmon-pink feldspar (feldspars are an important group of rock-forming minerals which make up perhaps as much as 60% of the Earth's crust), green epidote, and quartz."

Ha! You nailed me on that one Chris......good job! You are correct it is Unakite and it does consist of three minerals. I forgot the quartz.. blush.gif

Here is a quote from Mindat ...
QUOTE
Unakite is an altered granite consisting primarily of pink Orthoclase Feldspar, clear Quartz and green Epidote.

The lower right hand side piece that is all green consists of Epidote and quartz. This Epidote is more of a mass than a crystal.
The smaller pink piece in the center right actually looks fuzzy green because it has the Epidote that is more in the crystal form. Have to look in a 20x loop at it to see the tiny crystal shapes (poorly formed). Can even see some translucent spots of the very tiny dark green crystals. thumbsupsmileyanim.gif Top center one looks to me like Epidote and red Jasper. What do you think?
