Gold has many uses. They even use super fine gold to lubricate the space shuttle parts. smiley-cool14.gif

Here is a bottle of super fine gold that Dan's grandma used for adding to her paint. This bottle has been sitting around since before I was born just waiting to be used. music037.gif Heavy little bottle!!! happy088.gif

Here is a picture looking inside the bottle.

I have a project in the works that will use some of it. I will post pictures later. thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

Sweet fines Leonard, but those are very chunky compared to the gold in the bottle above. You would have to have it processed finer to be able to lubricate any shuttle parts with it. biggrin.gif
The all time question "does gold float" is easily answered when you open the bottle. Poof, as a little gold cloud floats away. smiley-shocked003.gif

Mrs. CP,

Wow, I thought the gold in the Arkansas River was fine. That bottle you have has it beat...but not by too much!

laugh.gif Too funny Astrobleme! I have never seen gold this fine before! The bottle is totally dry but when you touch it, it feels very soft and almost greasy feeling. I can totally see/feel why they use it to lubricate the parts for the shuttle.

Leonard, how long did it take to accumulate what you're showing?

The left bottle is quite a few years on the Arkansas. I don't think the middle one is from there. I've been dredging about 14 years and I probably have about 5-6 ounces. I'm in it for the fun and I really don't work very hard any more.

Here is a project we did using the gold dust. It's a Colorado Smokey Quartz cabachon with a Colorado Amazonite heart inlay. smiley-cool14.gif
