I was looking through pictures and came across this one. This was at the spring fling outting. It's of my good friends Denise and Goldie. Notice that thier eyes are on the ground. A sure sign of being an avid rockhound.
psst... they're going the wrong way, there's a big pile of rocks behind them.
Too funny! Actually, you know how us girls can be. We were talking about what shoes are best for prospecting.
So Goldie thought, well if im talking to Denise I better wear my waiders?
We had just came from that rock pile Swizz. Those are old tailings from a huge gold dredge in Fairplay.
I would say "a sure sign of being an avid rockhound" If your a man and you look like this while digging.
Or if your a woman and your fingers look like this.
Who knows what Im holding?
Still waiting on if anyone knows what Im holding in the picture above!
Here are a few more picture of true rockhounds (all women) in our prospecting environment .
This is how I see a true rockhound (prospector) usually.
Most people when first walking up on a dig thats not use to it say "Are they alright?!" After seeing the digger laying on the ground with their head in a hole.
Got to love playing in the dirt!!
Lets see your pics of a true rockhound!
Anyone hounding for coprolite is a true rockhound fer sure.
gotite? and i am sure i spelled it wrong.
Goethite.
Good job guys, it is a piece of Goethite! Now here a tricky one.......
Why is there a roll of TP next to the digger in the pic above? And no, shes not digging a cat hole.
Funny GB and Swizz, but not exactly.
And its not to wipe away her tears of joy when she finds a huge blue and purple Fluorite either.
Here's a few pics from our visit to dreamtime. The first one is ol Gat,Dan,and I looking through tailings. The second is Gat down in a hole with Mikey, Dans son looking on.The third is a serious rockhounding toy. The final pic is of a hole that the claim owner had already open. That hole is at least 30 ft. below the ground surface. It is barly big enough to crawl through. OOPS I got my pics mixed up
specimen wrapping. i use it all the time.
Bingo marntson, wrapping up the finds to get them safely out of the digs and woods.
Swizz, you are kinda right too but for padding during extraction, it would be more stiff padding (cloth rags or more likely, who evers flanel was closest ), just in case a big purty might fall to the floor of the monster cave pocket!
Suns out and the snow is a meltin'! Good thing too cause this thread is not helpin' the dig fever!
Then there are days when there just isn't enough TP to get the job done!
Jim's pic recently posted from a sweet day on the digs!
Talking bout putting TP to good use.... This is the tailgate of the truck above. It was where they had all the smaller clusters and micros. By the way that truck is brand new. LOL Ya recon he cared much??
TP is good, unless you have fine crystals then newspaper is best. For cost though, I'll stand by newspaper.
I sure enjoyed those pics of you folks!
Wish I could've joined you.
Heavy Pans and Happy Beeping,
faaus
I've gotta agree with Mrs.CP on that one. having personally broken a couple of nice pieces trying newspaper.... Id advise against it for the smaller ones.
