Rocky Mountain Miners Rally 2007
We took a day and drove over to the western slope to visit the
Gold Basin Mine. Well worth the ride, but be ready for some elevation
as the mine sits at 12,300 ft!
Entering the gate you can see the trees are very few.
Talk about scenery!!! WHEW!
This ol' piece was used in the 30's to drag the bucket through the pay layers!
Today the miners use a little bit different equipment!
I bet it's alot lighter too!!!
The beautiful mountain flowers were out in full color at this altitude
even though it's July and there was still snow just a few hundred feet away.
